Thanks John, By 'including a manual' what I meant was does the CD version contain a printed manual - you know. Like 'in the old days';) From your reply, I'm presuming the answer is no - that both have access to an online help manual. Not being all that familiar with downloaded versions of software, when you say I 'can always re download'. Are there any time or frequency limitations on that? (It seems likely that should the need to redownload occur, it wouldn't be for many, many, many months/years;) Thanks for your help and FAST response! I know of little software that provides a printed manual anymore. Many companies don't even provide CD copies for environmental reasons/costs.

Since Quicken is its own company, I don't know their policies. But, most software companies don't limit the frequency or timeframe as to when you download. I am sure after many years it won't be available-long after the product is no longer supported.
But even then, I don't see things getting yanked. If you download the program, you can save/back it up like any other data file. I personally haven't messed with CDs for years, but that is more because I can't stand clutter:-) And I can't ever remember having to re download things.
But, I have a good backup regimen. The Quicken 2017 help file is getting better-in the past it wasn't so hot. (It was like it was thrown together as an afterthought. But, between, the manual and asking questions here, I think you will be fine.
We don't bite heads off for basic questions, so don't worry. Most of us just want to help people to get on top of their finances.
